ADVERTISEMENT INATIONALS fa ipienal Ouatialia Barnaby Joyce MP Federal Member for New England Small business drought loans now available The Australian Government continues to support small businesses affected by drought in many parts of the New England. The Regional Investment Corporation (RIC) loan up to $500,000 for farm-dependent small businesses is now available. As drought continues to hit small businesses across the region from Tamworth to Tenterfield, the RIC's AgBiz Drought Loans will offer financial relief. Local businesses are at the heart of many regional communities and all are doing their best to serve farming families also affected by this drought. Eligible businesses include livestock transporters, equipment repairers and harvesting contractors. Small business such as these and others can use drought loans to refinance existing debt or just keep their businesses going until the drought breaks. Loans of up to $500,000 will be available with a two-year interest free period. Following those first two years, concessional interest- only payments will apply before principal and interest payments are required in the final five years of the 10-year loan term. Guidelines and applications for these new loans are available at ric.gov.au As the drought has worsened, we have taken another step up with our support. We have continued to be agile, responding where we need to and how we need to, as we wait for the rain everyone desperately needs.
